Green Cloud supports two types of migration:

  • Self-Managed Migration: Migrate via OVFTool or OVF Upload into VMware Cloud Director
  • Green Cloud Managed Migration: Green Cloud’s Service Delivery team will create a full migration plan and execute with the assistance of your technical team
    • Supports Physical (P2V) and Virtual (V2V) migrations

For more information, please contact your Green Cloud account manager, or reach out through our Contact Us page.

Navigate to https://portal.greenclouddefense.com and enter your username and password.

After logging in, fill in the Two-Factor Authentication code that you receive via your selected authentication method.

Update Two-Factor Method

To update this method, click your user name in the upper right-hand corner and select “Update Account Information”.

Select your preferred method from the dropdown as shown below.

No Longer Have Access To Two-Factor Method

If your access to your selected Two-Factor method has been revoked (for instance, if you have moved to a new phone and were unable to import your Authenticator App), you can log in via a secondary Two-Factor method. After entering your username and password, at the Two-Factor prompt screen, select “Use A Different Two Factor Method”.

Then, select the appropriate method to which you currently have access.

You will receive a Two-Factor code that you can enter as normal. Make sure to use the above process to re-update your Two-Factor settings with the new method.

In addition to our in-house virtual routers (see Virtual Firewall Comparison), Green Cloud also allows partners to deploy BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device) virtual Firewalls in their VMware Cloud Director VDC (Virtual Data Center) environment, but only if they support the necessary features in the underlying hypervisor. In this article, we look at why the SonicWall NSv series is not compatible with Cloud Director.

vMotion Support

According to the SonicWall NSv FAQ, the NSv appliance does not support vMotion. Green Cloud utilizes VMware’s Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) to balance our infrastructure. This means DRS will leverage vMotion to move workloads around to keep the infrastructure based on the resource demand. When this occurs to SonicWall devices, we find the VM frequently does not come back online as intended, which is not operationally viable for a 100% uptime guarantee. Due to this feature not being supported on the NSv, Green Cloud does not support the SonicWall NSv series in our IaaS multi-tenant environment powered by VMware Cloud Director.

Before attempting a Teams restore from O365 BaaS, please ensure that there is a local server with Green Cloud added as a Service Provider, and the Veeam Explorer for Teams installed. See the O365 BaaS Restore Server Setup for more details.

Open Backup in Veeam Explorer for Teams

Open Veeam Explorer for Teams. Select “Add Org” in the upper left-hand corner, then select “Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service Provider…”.

In the dialog box that opens, select the Service Provider instance that you set up during the O365 BaaS Restore Server Setup process, and the authentication method relevant to your O365 instance (Basic or Modern). For Basic, enter the username and password for the backup service account that was sent to Green Cloud when the service was ordered. For Modern, select your Region and sign in using the provided authentication code.

After entering the authentication information, specify a point in time (if necessary) and click “Connect”.

Locate Missing Items

You can restore the following types of items from the Veeam Explorer:

  • Teams
  • Channels/Tabs
  • Posts
  • Files

First, browse the Navigation Pane on the left to locate your missing items.

To launch the Restore Wizard, right-click on the relevant item and select “Restore [item]…”

Authenticate into Azure

Modern Authentication

For Modern Authentication, enter your Application ID and select “Next”. By default, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams populates this field with the identification number of the application that was used during a backup session. If you want to use another application, make sure to grant this application required permissions.

Then, use the Azure Device Logon page to complete the authentication.

Basic Authentication

For Basic Authentication, enter the username and password for the backup AD service account you sent Green Cloud during provisioning.

Finalize Restore

First, if restoring a Team in its entirety, select the Team from the following screen:

Then for all other item types, specify your restore options, and finalize by selecting “Restore”.

When restoring a Team, you will additionally need to select users/members.

Repeat this process for all missing items.

Before attempting a OneDrive restore from O365 BaaS, please ensure that there is a local server with Green Cloud added as a Service Provider, and the Veeam Explorer for OneDrive installed. See the O365 BaaS Restore Server Setup for more details.

Open Backup in Veeam Explorer for OneDrive

Open Veeam Explorer for OneDrive (installed with the same package as Veeam Explorer for SharePoint). Select “Add Store” in the upper left-hand corner, then select “Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service Provider…”.

Locate Missing Documents

Once you have connected to the Organization, use the Organization browser window to explore the files and folders of all backed up user accounts.

Restore Documents

After locating the relevant files, you can select them and use the buttons at the top of the screen, or right-click to begin the restore process.

  • “Restore document” will restore the document directly into its original location in O365, either Overwriting the present file or Keeping and renaming the restored version
